The two met when they were relatively young
Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers met when they were 19 and 23, respectively, according to an article from E! News. In a piece from Vulture, Hammer clarified the circumstances under which they met through a mutual friend of theirs, including that Chambers had a boyfriend at the time. "Our friendship continued to grow and grow until one day when I was like, 'I can't be friends with you anymore. You've got to break up with your boyfriend, and we've got to start dating,'" Chambers recalled to Vulture.
Inside Weddings reported on the couple's 2010 rehearsal dinner, and Us Weekly reported that their wedding was also featured in the January 2011 issue of Town & Country. Chambers said to Us Weekly in 2013 of her decision to marry Hammer, "He sat me down and said, 'Look, we don't have to do this. We could just go our own ways, and then one day you'll be 40 and divorced, and we'll run into each other, and we'll laugh and go out to dinner and have this same connection, and we'll wonder why we wasted all of that time. In spite of the difficulties in their personal lives, the famous couple have been seen continuing to co-parent their children, including in an Instagram Story posted by Chambers (via People). Internet speculation led Variety to confirm reports on social media that Armie has put his acting career on pause and is selling timeshares in the Cayman Islands.
