What Khloe Kardashian's Exes Have Said About Her
Ever since "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" first premiered on E! in 2007, the family members' love lives have been dissected and discussed incessantly. The sisters have had their fair share of dramatic unions to be sure, but they've also had plenty of quote-unquote normal relationships that have flown under the radar.
Take Khloé Kardashian, for example. Most fans can tell you everything there is to know about her tumultuous relationship with Tristan Thompson, but far fewer can recount details of her time with Rashad McCants or French Montana. And we would be willing to bet that even fewer know how those exes feel about their time with the reality star.
Some of it is flattering, some of it isn't. While French Montana, for example, has particularly nice things to say about his old flame, there is more than one former boyfriend who places the breakup blame (and beyond) squarely on her shoulders. Like a Kardashian sister with a salad from Health Nut, we're about to dig into all of the things Khloé's exes have said about her following their split.
Rashad McCants didn't love the reality show 'situation'
One of Khloé Kardashian's first public relationships was with NBA player Rashad McCants. The pair reportedly met through sister Kim Kardashian's then-boyfriend Reggie Bush and spent seven months together before splitting in January 2009. Their relationship didn't end on a particularly high note. Confirming their breakup, she told OK!, "He's a loser." Fans would later learn on an episode of "Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami" that the shooting guard seemingly cheated on her with a fan.
After his romance with Khloé ended, things didn't go so well for McCants. In 2010, the basketball player found out that his contract wasn't going to be renewed. With no other NBA teams jumping to sign him, McCants spent the next several years bopping around the D-league, overseas teams, and a 3-on-3 league. In 2017, McCants told the Charlotte Observer (via Sports Illustrated) that he felt his relationship with Khloé — and all of the attention that comes with dating a member of the very famous family — was the reason why his basketball career petered out the way it did. "Without that situation in play, I'm a $60-70 million player," he said. It looks to us like Khloé dodged a bullet with this one; no one wants a partner who looks to place blame for their failures on other people.
Lamar Odom regrets how things went
Not long after ending things with Rashad McCants, Khloé Kardashian began seeing another NBA player, Lamar Odom. After dating for just four weeks, the lovebirds tied the knot in 2009. Even someone who only barely keeps tabs on celebrity news knows what ended up happening. Though the two tried to play happy for their spinoff, "Khloe & Lamar," behind the scenes, Odom struggled with addiction. In 2013, Kardashian filed for divorce after she learned Odom had been unfaithful. Two years later, Odom nearly died after overdosing at a Nevada brothel.
In the years since their split was finalized, Odom has had a lot of positive things to say about Kardashian. While on "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2022, he told his castmates that losing Kardashian was one of the biggest mistakes of his life. "It would be a blessing to just be in her presence and tell her I'm sorry and what a fool I was," he said in a confessional (via People). "She has the right to never see me again for the things I put her through, but time moves on and people change. I would say I'm more loyal now."
How does Kardashian feel about Odom's lingering affections? A source told Us Weekly that the reality star is happy her ex took part in the series and saw it as an opportunity for him to return to the spotlight. What's more, she was totally comfortable with him waxing nostalgic about their relationship on the show.

French Montana doesn't believe in that curse
Of all Khloé Kardashian's exes, French Montana has had some of the nicest things to say. First introduced by Diddy at a party in Vegas back in 2014, they dated on and off for about a year, breaking up and making up more times than we could keep track of. Unlike some of her other relationships, there was no dramatic ending, it simply seemed that the spark they shared had fizzled out.
In a 2019 interview with Haute Living, the rapper confirmed what we had long suspected: The pair's split was mutual and respectful— just a transition from romance to friendship. He told the magazine, "Me and Khloé are always going to be friends, and the family still remains close. I feel like we had a real dope relationship— there was no bad blood, nobody did something to somebody that we couldn't come back from. The love was real. When the love was like that, it's always going to be like that. Friendship after a relationship is something that's real hard to do, and I'm glad we've been able to do that."
He continues to regularly speak up in his ex-girlfriend's defense to this day. In a 2022 interview on "The Breakfast Club" (via TikTok), French made it clear that he doesn't believe a so-called Kardashian curse exists. He went on to say that it simply comes down to the fact that the women have become so successful that their partners can easily fall to the wayside if they aren't as driven or hard-working.
James Harden wasn't into 'all the attention'
In 2015, Khloé Kardashian met her next serious boyfriend, James Harden, at Kanye West's birthday party. The pair spent eight months together before ultimately ending things in 2016. Unlike Kardashian's relationship with French Montana, the aftermath of this breakup wasn't as drama-free.
In an episode of Kardashian's short-lived talk show, "Kocktails with Khloé," the reality star told guest Lisa Rinna that the relationship had fallen apart because the NBA player had been unfaithful. "I just don't want to put up with people that you want to be monogamous but then they're not monogamous," she said (via ET). Harden didn't have an immediate response to her cheating allegations, but a few months later he held nothing back in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
The point guard told the outlet that he does not exactly cherish the time he spent with Kardashian. He went on to insinuate that the real reason the relationship didn't work out wasn't because he was unfaithful, but because he wasn't into the spotlight that stays trained on Kardashian's every move. "I didn't like all the attention," he said. "I feel like it was for no reason. I wasn't getting anything out of it except my name out there and my face out there, and I don't need that... It wasn't me... Who cares?"
Tristan Thompson has done a lot of apologizing
Tristan Thompson, the father of both of Khloé Kardashian's children, has had a lot of ups and downs with the reality star.
Kardashian and Thompson were first spotted together in 2016 when they attended Flo Rida's birthday party at a Miami club. Things appeared to be going well between them up until 2019 when rumors began to swirl that the NBA player had been cheating on his very pregnant girlfriend with several women. Ultimately, these rumors were substantiated, and the couple broke up. They briefly got back together in 2020, but broke up for a second (and seemingly final) time in 2021, just before the news of Thompson's paternity scandal hit the gossip rags.
Since the relationship ended, Thompson, understandably given the public's perception of him, hasn't said much about his former girlfriend. However, in January 2022 he did offer a mea cupla to Kardashian for his bad behavior with an Instagram Story (via The Washington Post): "I sincerely apologize to everyone I've hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately. "Khloé, you don't deserve this. You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry."
