Celebs Who Don't Shower Daily
We always expect celebrities to look like a million bucks every time they make a public appearance. Thanks to their dedicated team of fashion stylists and hair and makeup artists, it's rare for a star to step out looking less than flawless from head to toe. But looks can be deceiving. Although many of our favorite stars look absolutely stunning on the outside, you might catch a whiff of a nasty odor if you were to stand right next to them. This is because some famous people are known for slacking when it comes to their hygiene habits.
Some celebrities are actually rather candid when it comes to discussing their daily rituals. Some have admitted to skipping out on taking showers for days on end, while others were put on blast by their close friends, co-stars, and anonymous sources. And we're not talking about D-listers here! We've got everyone from allegedly odorous Oscar-winners to potentially musty morning news anchors. These are the celebs who are known for not showering daily. Pee-yew!
For Brad Pitt, all it takes is 'a couple quick wipes'
Brad Pitt's Inglourious Basterds co-star, Eli Roth, told People that the father of six offered up some interesting advice on how to keep clean while filming on set. "He shared that when you're sweating and don't have time to take a shower, you just take a baby wipe and rub it under your armpits," Roth said. Um, gross.
To explain his reason for nixing showers and depending on a wet wipe instead, Pitt reportedly told Roth, "I got six kids. All you've got to do is just take them, a couple quick wipes under the pits...Man, I'm getting [peed] on all day. I don't have time to take a shower."
Roth was sold, and he eventually adopted Pitt's hygiene tip and began using baby wipes to keep his armpits smelling fresh on those days when dunking his entire body underneath running water was just too much of a hassle.
We understand Pitt may be running short on time due to his daddy duties, but c'mon, how hard is it to squeeze in a five-minute wash up?
Robert Pattinson allegedly 'completely reeks'
In an interview with Extra, Robert Pattinson was asked if he were willing to confirm the rumors that he once hadn't washed his hair for six weeks. The Twilight actor answered, "Probably. I don't know. I don't really see the point in washing your hair." Well, that explains his sometimes grungy and unkempt look, right?
Fans of the English actor probably weren't too surprised by his admission. It wasn't the first time that his lackadaisical hygiene regimen was discussed in the media.
Almost three years prior to his Extra interview, a source who worked on the set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon told MTV that Pattinson's crummy hair was the least of their worries. Apparently, the actor's body was emitting a pretty harsh stench, too. "He stinks. I mean, it's awful. He never showers, and it drives people on the set crazy." An additional source seconded that emotion by simply stating, "He completely reeks."
Now that Pattinson is the face of Dior Homme, let's hope his new gig includes some free bottles of the European brand's cologne. A spritz or two could really go a long way.
Naya Rivera made showering about race
If you ask Naya Rivera, the former Glee star will tell you that "showering more than once a day, or every day, is such a white people thing." Yes, she really said that...in front of a studio audience...on national television while co-hosting on The View. Face palm.
But that wasn't all. She shoved her foot even further in her mouth by proclaiming "white people shower a lot more than ethnics" and based her findings on being married to a "white man" (estranged husband, Ryan Dorsey) who sometimes showers "two, three times a day."
The Puerto Rican, German, and African-American actress made the outlandish remarks during the show's Hot Topics segment, and soon enough, she was forced to deal with the backlash. During the next taping of the show (via ET), she apologized for her comments by saying, "I had an opinion on it that was supposed to be a joke. Apparently it didn't go over so well... It was supposed to be a joke, but I apologize if anyone was offended."
Shia LaBeouf took method-acting too far
Shia LaBeouf's time on the set of the Brad Pitt film Fury was full of criticism and chatter about his bizarre and strange behavior.
According to those with firsthand knowledge, LaBeouf took his portrayal of World War II soldier Boyd "Bible" Swan way too seriously. To nail the character, he relied on the system of method-acting — a technique in which an actor "becomes" the character in the quest of putting on an Earth-shattering performance. But some said LaBeouf went over the edge to transform into Bible, according to the Daily Mail. Not only did LaBeouf pull out his own tooth during filming, but he also "refused to shower for weeks on end so he could better understand how his character would have felt living in the trenches."
We're all for an actor putting everything they have into a role...just as long as they're not funking up the entire place in the process!
Zac Efron 'isn't a big fan of showering'
Take one look at Zac Efron and you can tell he's someone who loves to stay in shape. How else do you think he maintains his rock hard abs? But despite being an avid bike rider and a fitness enthusiast, a source from the set of High School Musical 3 told Star magazine (via Just Jared), "Zac isn't a big fan of showering... It's so gross, because Zac loves to work out and plays basketball all the time — and then goes days without showering." Efron is also apparently a graduate of Brad Pitt's school of keeping clean. The source continued, "When he gets lazy, he likes to clean himself with baby wipes!"
Perhaps he hates bathing because it brings back an embarrassing memory from his past. In a 2017 interview with Refinery29, the actor recalled the time he discovered cologne while shopping with his mom at a mall. He stocked up on a bunch of free samples and "put on way too many of them one day and went to school." The actor then said he was sent home from school and ordered to take a shower because he "smelled so bad."
Tamron Hall is willing to give it a try
TODAY anchor Tamron Hall shocked her co-anchors when she contemplated giving up daily showers for good! During an on-camera discussion, the anchors were discussing a news article and posed the question: "Do we really need to scrub-a-dub-dub that often?"
Hall believed the answer was no, especially for those who suffered from dry skin just like her. She stated: "People with skin issues notice that when they forgo daily baths, it eases up eczema and dry skin," before admitting that her friends call her "Ashlee Simpson" because of her ashy skin. Get it? Ash-lee. Ash-y. So witty.
Although she was onboard with skipping a shower or two to keep her skin in pristine condition, anchorman Willie Geist wasn't convinced. "When I wake up in the morning, I have to shower to wake up for one thing," he said. And co-host Natalie Morales felt the same way when she revealed she had to take a shower "twice a day, almost every day."
Despite her co-anchors' responses, Hall was still up for the idea. "I think I'm going to try it," she said before Al Roker jokingly asked her, "Would you let us know when?"
Britney Spears' alleged toxic habits got aired out
If you seek a celeb who's on top of their hygiene, Britney Spears isn't one of them, according to a lawsuit filed by her former bodyguard Fernando Flores (via Mirror). In the suit, Flores sued Spears for "psychological damages" and accused her of avoiding the bathtub for days on end. Aside from that stinky allegation, he also claimed she had flashed him her genitals, allegedly abused her children, and had annoying personal habits; such as passing gas, picking her nose, and chain-smoking.
"She did not bathe for days on end, did not use deodorant, did not brush her teeth, did not fix her hair, did not wear shoes or socks," the bodyguard alleged.
Those in Spears' camp called Flores a liar, but in 2012, the singer ended up settling the lawsuit by providing Flores with a "modest financial settlement" just to get him to go away and pipe down, according to TMZ.
Snooki smelled like 'alcohol and beer'
Fans of the Jersey Shore have watched Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jennifer "JWoww" Farley, and the rest of the crew party hard like their lives depended on it. While cameras rolled, cast mates lived their everyday lives in a house in Seaside Heights, and now that we think about it, we can't remember a time when any of them announced they were going to take a shower before heading out to the club to fist pump the night away. Is it possible that they simply returned home from their wild outings and simply crawled into bed without bothering to wash off the sweat, glitter, and foam they collected during their nights out?
This great Jersey Shore mystery has finally been solved... well, as it pertains to Snooki, at least. The pint-sized, leopard print-loving cast member was chatting with JWoww during an episode of their spinoff show, Snooki & JWOWW (via MTV News). JWoww reminisced about their days at the shore by saying, "I used to remember you waking up at 3 in the afternoon, and I had to dropkick you out [of bed] to take a shower." That prompted Snooki to reply, "I never showered, I was a f*****g slob. I smelled so bad, like alcohol and beer."
Charlize Theron can go a week without lathering up
Charlize Theron is probably the last star you'd ever expect to see on this list. The award-winning actress always looks so glam, so stunning, and extremely well put together whenever she hits up a red carpet event. She can't even step outside without instantly being listed as one of Hollywood's best-dressed. Like the other stars on our list, she's easy on the eyes, but the Monster star has a very odd beauty ritual that might surprise even her diehard fans.
In an interview with David Letterman (via NY Daily News), the blonde bombshell confessed: "I'm a tough girl and I can not shower for a week – I'm fine with that."
Hmm..she may be okay with it, but we wonder what her co-stars have to say about her aversion to giving her body a good scrub? Can someone please ring up her Mad Max: Fury Road co-star Tom Hardy? We need answers!
Russell Crowe's stench allegedly made his co-star gag
Renee Zellweger and Russell Crowe teamed up in 2005 to film the Ron Howard film, Cinderella Man. The script called for the two megastars, who played husband and wife James and Mae Braddock, to have a series of intimate scenes where they would get up close and personal with each other. According to the National Enquirer, Zellweger allegedly "gagged" when it was time for her to lock lips with Crowe, proving that a case of Altoids simply wasn't in the film's budget.
The actress reportedly complained about Crowe's alleged foul stench, and Howard reportedly confronted the Aussie actor about his alleged foul aroma. Unfortunately for Zellweger, Crowe refused to acquiesce with the demands to whip his odor into shape. Howard reportedly had no other choice but to hire a body double to stand in and film alongside Zellweger during the steamier scenes.
Is Jessica Simpson lazy about showering too?
It appears that Jessica Simpson goes to great lengths to keep up her appearance. But what many don't realize is that she's prone to being rather lazy when it comes to her personal hygiene habits.
While visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show (via US Weekly), she made the startling admission that she only brushes her teeth "maybe three times a week." Why? Well, according to Simpson: "Because my teeth are so white and I don't like them to feel too slippery but I do use Listerine and I do floss everyday." Say what?!
"My lips just slide all over the place...I can't catch up with my mouth," she continued. "I need a little coating." So instead of brushing, the singer and actress revealed she would scrub her teeth with "a shirt or something" to keep her teeth clean.
She must've noticed the shocked expressions on DeGeneres' and the audience members' faces because Simpson attempted to assure them all by saying, "I know it's gross but I always have fresh breath."
Even though she has never talked about how often she showers, we'd bet money that someone who skips out on brushing their teeth everyday isn't keeping up with their daily showers either.
Johnny Depp 'rarely showers' but his ex Vanessa Paradis didn't mind
Back before his disastrous marriage to Amber Heard, actor Johnny Depp was in a serious relationship with French supermodel Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his children, Lily Rose and John "Jack" Depp. Prior to things between them going belly up — Radar Online confirmed their 2012 breakup —Johnny and Vanessa appeared to have an idyllic relationship. Well, aside from their reported shared adoration for funk.
According to Fox411 (via News.com.au), despite looking like utter perfection whenever they hit up a red carpet event, Johnny and Vanessa were rather unkempt. "Johnny usually smells because he rarely showers," a source said. "He isn't big on personal cleanliness and Vanessa isn't much different. [...] Their personal hygiene is not their priority."
The insider added that Paradis could usually be seen with "no makeup and unruly hair" during her downtime. But as for Depp, he maintained a nonchalant attitude toward cleanliness no matter where he went. "If he's showing up for work on set, he'll be a total professional, but that doesn't mean he'll be shiny and clean," the snitch said.
And this is where we pinch our nostrils and run toward the nearest exit.
Kendra Wilkinson is the hygienically challenged girl next door
Skimpy shorts, mini dresses, bathing suits, and lingerie were just a few of the pieces in Kendra Wilkinson's fashion arsenal when she starred on E!'s reality show The Girls Next Door. Living in the Playboy Mansion with the late Hugh Hefner and the rest of his girlfriends/Playboy Playmates meant Wilkinson was always attending parties and rubbing elbows with celebrities. With her curvy yet athletic build, she owned every single outfit she donned. However, as "sexy" as she looked on the outside, her stylist confirmed (via Yahoo!) that she "couldn't care less how she smells." Pee-yew.
The stylist, speculating the source of the funk may be "pets," added that the California native "smells like urine most of the time." Are we the only ones gagging right now? Well, if that wasn't bad enough, the stylist also claimed that Wilkinson "almost never takes a shower, and doesn't use perfume either."
That's a stinky double whammy!
