Why LeAnn Rimes Blamed Her Dentist For Damaging Her Career
When LeAnn Rimes first burst onto the scene as a teen singing sensation, many music critics were quick to point out her talent. She was known as having "the voice of an angel," and was called a prodigy at the tender age of 13, according to The Washington Post. And while there aren't a lot of country singers out there who can say they've sold 48 million albums worldwide, per the Tennessean, her rise to the top has not been an easy one. Rimes told Insider that she was in a pretty dark place when she checked into a mental health treatment center shortly after her 30th birthday. She said, "It was time for me to break away from my deep codependency and to figure out what was chemically going on to be able to take care of myself, And it felt great to have other people going through the same things."
And while Rimes has certainly gotten a lot of attention for her marriage to Eddie Cibrian and their scandal-ridden road to romance, no one has ever questioned her ability to make everyone in a room come to a standstill with her singing. However, there was one certain experience that almost cost Rimes her career. And no, she's not blaming Cibrian's ex, Brandi Glanville, on this one; she's putting the onus on her dentist instead.
LeAnn Rimes claims her dentist almost destroyed her singing career
Back in 2013, at a time when her drama with Brandi Glanville had reached its peak, LeAnn Rimes was dealing with another large issue at hand. According to Us Weekly, Rimes slapped her dentist with a lawsuit. She alleged that his poor dental work was so traumatic that it did a negative number on her career. In her court papers, Rimes claimed that she was experiencing "emotional and psychiatric injuries" and that her "ability to perform as an artist has been and will continue to be significantly compromised until all re-treatment is complete."
However, many media outlets, like "Today," pointed out that whatever inside work her dentist did at the time didn't appear on the outside, as her smile was still intact for each photo she posted on social media. Still, things got so bad for Rimes that she ended up having at least 29 dental procedures done by 2015, per the Daily Mail. Rimes even posted a photo of herself preparing for yet another procedure, and compared herself to Miss Piggy.
So, how are things looking for Rimes and her career these days?
LeAnn Rimes is still doing what she loves
It turns out that the dental work LeAnn Rimes had done didn't hamper her ability to entertain the millions of fans she has around the world after all. The Daily Mail added that Rimes' lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice simply because the corporation her dentist worked for went under.
Thankfully, Rimes is still going strong, even though her appearance at the CMT Music Awards back in April did draw an unfortunate comparison. Because of all the headlines she made due to her very public extramarital affair with Eddie Cibrian, she's dealt with a lot of negative press. Yet, fans have been saying that she deserves a comeback just like Jason Aldean, who was also in the same boat as the singer when he was snapped kissing Brittany Kerr while he was still married. That said, Rimes told AP News that her new album, "God's Work," is one of her best. Rimes also told CBS News that if she weren't the resilient person she is, she wouldn't be where she is today. She also added, "I'm humbled to everything that gets to come through me. And at the same time, I know what I can do."
The best part is that, through all of her dental troubles, Rimes is still smiling. Clearly, no amount of dental work can take that away from her.
