The Tragic Death Of Ghostbusters Actor Kymberly Herrin
"Ghostbusters" actor and former Playboy Playmate Kymberly "Kym" Herrin died in October 2022, the New York Post reports. Herrin played the role of Dream Ghost in "Ghostbusters," as noted by The Wrap, and her IMDb page also lists acting roles in such films as "Romancing the Stone" and "Beverly Hills Cop II" and appearances in multiple music videos, many of them from the 1980s.
The New York Post writes that Herrin was featured on the covers of the September 1982 and September 1983 issues of Playboy and served as its Playmate of the Month in March 1981. Per her IMDb page, her last credited acting role was in the film "Squanderers" in 1996, where she was credited with the spelling of her name given with the spelling of "Kimberly Herrin."
Herrin is not the only person connected to "Ghostbusters" to have died in 2022. The director of the classic film, Ivan Reitman, died in February 2022.
Kymberly Herrin may have died of cancer
In an obituary for Kymberly Herrin published in the Santa Barbara, California, newspaper the Santa Barbara News-Press, it is reported that Herrin died on October 28, 2022, at age 65. It additionally notes that Herrin is survived by a large extended family, including her mother, brother, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces, and grandnephews. While a cause of death is not given in the obituary directly, it is written that donations to the American Cancer Society are encouraged by Herrin's loved ones. Specifically, the note mentions breast cancer, suggesting that Herrin could have died as a result of the condition or complications related to it.
One of Herrin's nieces, Theresa Ramirez, shared a Facebook post in memory of her late aunt. A Facebook profile that appears to have belonged to Herrin was last posted publicly in 2015 and has the same photograph shared by Ramirez as its cover photo. It appears that Herrin was last interviewed in 2013, as published by Stop the Presses! on Yahoo! Entertainment.
