Tom Holland Has A Spider-Man Tattoo In An Unusual Location

Tom Holland's Spidey senses are definitely tingling after he got a tattoo to commemorate his Spider-Man role. Holland began acting at a young age, but the actor is best known for his role as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2021, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was released and shattered box offices across the world. Holland had been Spider-Man for quite sometime before the film release when he took on the iconic comic book role in 2015, per IMDb. He went on to be a part of several solo films and collaborative films including: "Avengers: Infinity War" and a brief cameo in "Captain America: Civil War".

It was during the press tour for his first solo film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming", the actor revealed he had gotten a tattoo in honor of the role. But it wasn't so much the tattoo that was shocking to fans, but more of where he got the tattoo. Holland isn't the first celebrity to get a tattoo in a bizarre place, but many wondered why the star would choose his foot to put the tattoo.

Tom Holland's foot tattoo 'hurt so much'

Celebrities who have played iconic roles have been known to get tattoos in honor of the show or film that changed their life. In fact, Tom Holland's co-stars got tattoos in honor of their characters in "Avengers." BBC reported Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johanson, and Chris Evans all got a symbol that combined all their characters.

Following his fellow MCU castmates, Holland decided to get a tattoo in honor of his Spider-Man role. Holland decided to get the Spider-Man logo coming down a web at the bottom of his foot. The actor told Back to the Movies, "I always wanted to get that Spider-Man symbol [there], but I just never thought I would ever get it done, and the opportunity came about." The actor also happened to get the tattoo in New York, the state where his character is from. Holland got the tattoo done by Keith "Bang Bang" McCurdy, who has done several other celebrities like Selena Gomez and Rihanna.

Getting inked is not an easy experience, especially if you get a tattoo in a painful location. Healthline reports that getting foot tattoos can be one of the most painful spots on your body. Though Spider-Man has been banged up and injured in nearly every film, Holland handles pain a little differently than his superhero character. The actor made a brief comment about the pain of his tattoo to the interviewer, "It hurt so much." Now, fans know the downfall of Spider-Man ... tattoos.

Tom had to get the foot tattoo done three times

It's painful enough to get one tattoo done, let alone get the same tattoo done three times. Tattoos fade over time, and people will go back to get their ink redone for a refreshed look. There are certain locations on the body that cause tattoos to fade quicker than most. Cosmopolitan reported the top five locations for placements on the body that tattoos fade fast, and unfortunately for Tom Holland, feet are No. 3 on the list. The reason feet tattoos fade fast can be attributed to the constant friction the area faces. From socks, shoes, and just the bare ground, feet constantly come into contact with something.

Holland shared with Back to the Movies, this is exactly what happened to him. The "No Way Home" actor explained, "I actually had to have it [the tattoo] done three times though because on the bottom of your foot it fades away. So, the third time he really, sort of, had to drive it home." The painful experience seemed to be worth it for Holland, as he explained it as "an amazing experience."

Since the Spider-Man tattoo, the actor has yet to reveal if he has gotten any more tattoos. But more than likely, should the star get inked again, it would also be in a discreet location so he can easily hide it from on-camera roles.
