Why Nicole Richie Isn't Friends With Lindsay Lohan Anymore
It's always heartbreaking whenever we witness our favorite celebrity couples break up, but it's even more devastating when famous besties decide to call it quits on their friendship. We've seen it happen with Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Lindsay Lohan, all of whom were pretty much attached at the hip in the early aughts.
Along with Britney Spears, Hilton, Richie, and Lohan were always seen together partying at clubs and attending social events. They were the It Girls at the time, and everyone wanted to be part of their circle. But a few years down the line, they all had a public and dramatic friendship breakup, with no one knowing what exactly went down to this day. In 2005, Hilton told People it was Richie who was at fault. "It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends," she said in a statement. "Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it." Meanwhile, in 2016, the heiress told SiriusXM's "Radio Andy" that Lohan was "one of those people I just don't really trust" (via Us Weekly).
As for Richie and Lohan? Well, the details behind their falling out are still hazy, but it might have something to do with Lohan's split from her ex-girlfriend, Samantha Ronson.
Everyone 'turned' on Lindsay Lohan after her split from Sam Ronson
You may have already forgotten it, but Linsday Lohan once dated DJ Samantha Ronson. They were together for over a year, and per the "Mean Girls" star, she doesn't know why the relationship ended, saying it "came out of nowhere." During an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Lohan confessed (via People), "I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn't seen her in, like, a week. She, like, disappeared."
It was also around that time that Lohan lost many of her friends. In 2009, Lohan told Us Weekly that their split was "absolute hell." Ronson reportedly kept the actor from attending the afterparty she threw for her sister Charlotte at the Chateau Marmont and changed the locks to the home they once shared. Lohan said that she felt "so alone" then and on the night of the party, Nicole Richie apparently walked by her and exclaimed, "Uck!" while her other friend Drea De Matteo said, "Come at me, b***h!" She added, "I felt like I was in Mean Girls, but worse: Mean Girls was a movie."
Did Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan ever rekindle their friendship?
Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan have not been seen in public together since their party days in the 2000s, and it doesn't look like they were able to revive the friendship they once had. During an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live" in 2014, the "Simple Life" star was asked when she last saw or spoke to Lohan, but she simply said, "[I] haven't spoken to her in a while," without adding any more details.
She did, however, admit that she was able to kiss and makeup with her old BFF, Paris Hilton. "Paris is somebody that's been in my life since day one. I haven't spoken to her in a while technically, but if you really want to get into it, my view of a friendship is somebody that you don't necessarily have to talk to every day," Richie dished (via E! News). "The short answer is I haven't spoken to her in awhile, but we are very good friends and I love her and love her family and have a lot of respect for her."
What's interesting about all this is Lohan once said she was never really friends with any of the people she partied with. "I haven't talked to [Nicole] in a while. I'm acquaintances with these people, but I'm not friends with all these people," she said in 2006 (via Digital Spy). "I don't necessarily know things about their lives."
