Are Tia And Tamera Mowry Still Close?
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may have been the most famous set of twins to come out of the '90s, but there's another sisterly duo in a close second: Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley. The Mowry twins got their big break on the half-hour sitcom, "Sister, Sister," which aired from 1994 to1999, per IMDb. During the sitcom's five-year tenure, which started on ABC and then moved to The WB, the sisters leaned their characters their real names. Although, the part about being put up for adoption, getting taken in by different people, and then reuniting 14 years later in a mall, is fictional.
In the more than two decades since "Sister, Sister" went off the air, Tia and Tamera have continued to work in Hollywood in varying capacities. On Tia's end, she's enjoyed a consistent acting career, transitioning into more mature, starring roles on "The Game," and "Instant Mom," after "Sister, Sister," per IMDb. Tamera, on the other hand, enjoyed a few TV guest stints before making major waves in the daytime world as a co-panelist of "The Real," on which she appeared for six seasons before leaving, per People. Together, both twins have also worked on Disney Channel's "Twitches" and "Twitches Too," and Lifetime's "Double Wedding," to name a few.
In addition, Tia and Tamera also starred in a reality show, "Tia & Tamera," which aired from 2011 to 2013, proving that their professional relationship is still intact. But what about Tia and Tamera's real-life bond?
Tia and Tamera are super close in real life
Even though Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley have followed different career trajectories, they have found plenty of time to support each other over the years, proving that they're just as close as their "Sister, Sister" characters. Before Tamera's departure from "The Real," Tia appeared on two separate occasions, in 2016 and 2017, to promote her various projects — much to their fans' (and Tamera's) delight. On social media, both twins have often posted sweet anecdotes about the other twin. "Happy, happy birthday 🎂 to my womb mate, my twinnie twin @tiamowry! Wishing you a day of so much love and amazing fun birthday festivities! Grateful to share this trip around the sun with you," wrote Tamera on Instagram as she wished Tia (and herself) a happy birthday.
The twins' bond is so strong that when COVID-19 kept them apart for six months in 2020, they were emotional upon reuniting and even cried, as Tamera predicted a few months prior, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Although it's clear Tia and Tamera are close, they're also your average sisters — as in, they butt heads a lot. At least, they used to when they were filming their reality show, "Tia & Tamera." Over the show's three seasons, viewers saw Tia and Tamera fight over maid-of-honor duties, failed business ventures, and everything else under the sun. However, the twins have proven that they have each other's backs when it really matters.
Tamera Mowry-Housley is supporting Tia Mowry through her divorce
Unfortunately, Tia Mowry-Hardrict announced sad news about her marriage. The actor and mom-of-two recently filed for divorce from her husband, actor Cory Hardrict, who she married in 2006. "I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways," wrote Tia on Instagram. "These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children." At this time, Tia hasn't revealed the exact reason she and Cory are splitting, although she did take to Instagram to thank fans for the "outpouring of love" they've shown her. Cory Hardrict shut down cheating rumors, however.
Tamera Mowry-Housley has also publicly reacted to Tia's divorce. During an appearance on "The Today Show" to promote her newly-released memoir, "You Should Sit Down for This," Tamera addressed Tia's divorce announcement. "I support [Tia]. So whatever she wants, the Mowrys have her back," Tamera shared. "I love her dearly." Tamera added that, while Tia is "strong," she "kind of just wants to, you know, just kind of process it all, take it all in and be a little private about that. As a sister, I'm just going to respect that."
