Here's Why Brody Jenner Didn't Go To Kim And Kanye's Wedding

If there's one thing we know about Brody Jenner, it's that he knows how to make a headline or two. Most notable tabloid dramas happened during his days on "The Hills" when he appeared to date Lauren Conrad (although we know Brody and Conrad have since claimed that was very much heightened for the cameras), with co-star Spencer Pratt even claiming he masterminded a date between the two for publicity. A date that meant he would dump Nicole Richie (though there are different takes on what really happened there).

"'Let me help make your life better by bringing the best-looking guy in Hollywood right now, who all the girls want to date — I'll get him to break up with his celebrity, superstar girlfriend," Pratt recalled of a conversation he had with Conrad about dating Jenner, on "Call Her Daddy." "I will get him to come on your show, pretend to be interested ... everyone wins.'"

But that's hardly Brody's only sashay into two worlds that go hand in hand; reality TV and celebrity gossip. Of course, reality fans will know that, as the son of Caitlyn Jenner, he would often pop up on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" alongside his half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner and step siblings Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé Kardashian. But while they always seemed pretty close over the years, Brody opted to skip out on a big day for his stepsister — and the exact reason why is still a little murky.

Brody Jenner said he had to work instead of attending Kim Kardashian's wedding

As anyone who's ever kept up with the Kardashians will know, Kim Kardashian married Kanye West in a lavish Florence, Italian ceremony back in 2014 after treating her nearest and dearest to a few days in Paris, France, first. Someone who was nowhere to be found on the European trip, though? Brody Jenner. Brody opted to stay home as the Kardashian/Jenner clan jetted off, initially explaining to People that he had prior commitments. "I simply had a very last-minute thing. They didn't want to let people know about their wedding early in advance, and I had already booked gigs," he claimed in July 2014, denying he was throwing shade at Kardashian and West (via MTV). He also shut down speculation he didn't go because he wasn't allowed to bring his girlfriend at the time, Kaitylnn Carter, claiming she would have been invited had he attended.

He had a similar take on the situation on "The Brody Jenner and Dr. Mike Dow Podcast" that same month, revealing (via ABC News), "[Me and Kim] talked about it! It was very simple: After I got the invite, I said, 'Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend but I wish you the best. I love you.' And she was fine with it. So if she's fine with it, why is everybody else not okay with it?" He added he didn't really know West and had only spoken to him once.

Was Brody Jenner upset with Kim Kardashian over her wedding?

Brody Jenner appeared to have a slightly different take on things after those comments. In April 2015, he poked fun at rumors Kaitlynn Carter wasn't invited to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's big day on Instagram, captioning a photo of himself and his now ex-wife at a different wedding, "Look...@kaitlynn_carter and I finally get to go to a wedding together!!!" He then swiftly deleted the snap, per Us Weekly.

That appeared to have been inspired by the Season 10 premiere of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" which aired the month prior, in which Brody hinted he may have been a little more frustrated by the plus one situation than he initially let on. "I'm very happy for them, but do you think that they were really like, 'We have to have Brody and Kaitlynn there. If they're not there then this wedding is not going to happen.' Nobody really gave a f** if Kaitlynn or I went," he said while out with the likes of Caitlyn, Brandon and Burt Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, per People. Kris Jenner then pointed out that Kim didn't know how long Brody and Kaitlynn would be together, while Kim said, "I don't know why Brody is still talking about this." She noted that the guest list was pretty exclusive and most people were okay with that, adding, "We love our stepbrothers. It just seems like they are always talking about this divide."
