Inside Timothée Chalamet's Past Relationship With Madonna's Daughter
Timothée Chalamet has been linked to his fair share of Hollywood stars including Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, and Eiza González. The "Call Me By Your Name" actor dated Depp for over a year before they split in 2020, according to Us Weekly. Shortly after their break-up, Chalamet was spotted packing on the PDA with González in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in June 2020, according to photos obtained by People. It was unclear if their romance was simply a fling or the beginning of something serious at the time. However, it appeared to fizzle very quickly as they were no longer together by October 2020, per E! News.
A romantic getaway seemed to be the start and end of Chalamet's romance with González, but it's difficult to decipher what it really meant to the actor. He told W Magazine in 2018, "Date is very much a scary word, because then that context has been established. You can always see people on early date behavior."
Chalamet seems to be a private person despite reaching massive fame and success rather quickly. And while some of his romantic connections have been more public than others, his first public relationship came before he even made it to the big screen. He was linked to Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, while he was still in high school, according to People.
Timothée Chalamet was Lourdes Leon's 'first boyfriend'
At one point, Timothée Chalamet and Lourdes Leon were both classmates at New York City's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, according to People, and ended up dating in 2013. In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, Leon reminisced about the past romance and revealed, "I respect him a lot. We were a little item. My first boyfriend." At the time, a source close to Madonna told Us Weekly, "Dating is a loose term for it, but yes, they are teenagers being teenagers so I guess you can call it that." Leon may have been a teenager at the time, but her life was anything like your average high school student.
Leon was not able to get away from the cameras or even have genuine alone time with Chalamet, even out in public, without "parental supervision," according to Page Six. A source told the outlet that one of Madonna's security guards accompanied the couple on a dinner date by sitting at a nearby table and "never took his eyes off of them." "They were leaning close together to talk before food came. He was making her laugh a lot," a source revealed.
After they were spotted out together on various occasions, it was assumed that the duo was dating. However, their romance was never actually confirmed until Leon's interview with Vanity Fair in 2021.
Lourdes Leon still supports her ex-boyfriend and his career
Lourdes Leon and Timothée Chalamet may have ended their romance, but there doesn't appear to be any bad blood between the former couple. During a 2017 interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, Chalamet opened up about meeting Cohen on a dance floor while he was dating Leon presumably a few years prior. He explained that he was dancing with his ex-girlfriend as well as Madonna that night which opened up a discussion about the memorable evening. "I don't know, I usually don't talk about this stuff, but that was a good night," Chalamet said.
At the time, Chalamet was promoting his film "Call Me By Your Name" and indirectly implied that he and Leon were still on good terms. When asked if Leon had seen the film yet, he replied, "She hasn't seen it yet, but she's excited to." He also revealed that she teases him about his late night talk show appearances. However, when Cohen pushed the envelope and asked Chalamet how long he dated Madonna's daughter, he visibly blushed and playfully responded, "Next question. I'm out of here."
Things are seemingly still good between the former couple as Leon appeared to have no issue opening up about Chalamet during her 2021 Vanity Fair interview. It's still unclear, however, how long the duo dated or what led to their split.
