By now, everyone knows how LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's romance started. For those who don't have access to the internet or TV, here's a brief breakdown: Rimes was married to her then-husband Dean Sheremet, and Cibrian was married to his then-wife and mother of his two kids, Brandi Glanville. But when Rimes and Cibrian got reacquainted on the set of the 2009 made-for-TV film Northern Lights, they weren't going to let their relationship statuses stop them from having a very public and super messy affair. Two years after the film was released, they would leave their respective spouses in the dust and get married during a surprise ceremony at a California estate. Since the start, their relationship has been at the center of tabloid fodder, and some have even labeled them as one of the most-hated couple in Hollywood. But the truth about their marriage is more strange than most people realize. Here are a few of the wacky facts about their romance.

They have a weird sense of humor

June 2012 was the first time the couple would celebrate Cibrian's birthday as husband and wife, and Rimes wanted to go all out for her man. She had a multi-layered cake baked in his honor, and it was decorated with all of Cibrian's "favorite things," according to Rime's tweet.

In the photo of the yummy dessert that was shared on her social media account, the frosted creation looked pretty delicious at first glance. But upon further inspection, social media users realized the cake was all sorts of strange.

Figures of Cibrian's sons from his first marriage, Mason and Jake, were at the bottom of the cake. He has always talked about how much he loves his boys, so it was no surprise that they were included in the tasty confection. But the top of the cake is where things got weird. There was a figurine representing the couple snuggled up in bed.

We're sure the cake wasn't the only treat Cibrian received on his birthday!

They give TMI about their sex life

In case you ever wondered what went down behind Rimes and Cibrian's closed doors, all you have to do is watch or read one of their countless interviews to get all the juicy deets. These two are apparently getting it on like bunny rabbits, and they love to gush about how amazing their sex life is.

Glanville and Sheremet, this is the part you can definitely skip. But for the rest of you, get ready for some TMI!

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight (via Us Weekly) Rimes bragged about their intimate moments when she said to the host, "Have you seen him? [Sex is] whatever time. Any time of the day. Whenever he wants it." Well, alrighty then.

Cibrian confirmed their steamy romps during an interview with OK! Magazine. He said their sex life is "healthy. Very healthy," and Rimes continued with, "We keep it interesting. It's so weird to talk about my sex life... my mom is going to be reading this! I think it's awesome. After this many years, I'm still enjoying it, so it's very good!"

That cake topper is making a little more sense now, isn't it?

They double dated with their spouses

Before news of their affair went public, Rimes and Cibrian attempted to downplay the attraction they had towards each other. But Stevie Wonder, Helen Keller, and their respective spouses could clearly see that their working relationship as costars had crossed over into a dangerous zone.

While they were filming Lifetime's Northern Lights, they decided to go on a double date. Cibrian brought Glanville and Rimes was with her then-husband, Sheremet. The four of them went to play pool, went out for sushi, and went dancing, according to an interview Glanville gave to People.

Glanville noticed a little bit of flirting between Rimes and Cibrian, and she also noticed how "very touchy-feely" Rimes was being with her then-husband.

Although Glanville would later try to save her marriage, it was too little too late. She and Cibrian attended marriage counseling, but Glanville revealed "he never stopped talking to [Rimes] the entire time."

Sheremet pulled the plug on his marriage to Rimes, according to People magazine, and their divorce was finalized in June 2010. Cibrian and Glanville were also divorced that same year after nine years of marriage, according to TMZ.

She felt 'pathetic' after their affair went public

When their divorces were finalized, they were finally free to be together. But Rimes quickly found out that having an affair would be one of the toughest things she would ever go through.

In an interview with Us Weekly, she said she hit "rock bottom" when news of their tryst swept the entertainment industry. "I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic," she said.

Thankfully, she didn't beat herself up too much about falling in love and the unconventional start to their romance. She stated, "I'm gonna make mistakes as I move on in life, but that's who we are, and I'm fortunate that I've grown a lot and I'm proud of who I am now...it's a good place to be."

They first met when she was 14, but neither of them remember

On the set of Northern Lights is where they fell deeply in love, but the couple actually met years prior and neither of them can even recall the encounter.

In April 2016, Rimes posted this throwback photo on her Instagram. At the time the picture was taken, she was just 14 and Cibrian was 23. Rimes included a caption which read, "We don't remember meeting. He found this in the garage while going through boxes. 14 years later who knew we'd meet again."

She went on to question whether their reunion years later on the set of the film was by chance or serendipity. Who knows, but we have to admit, they look absolutely adorable in this picture! We're loving RImes' ode to the '90s with her choppy 'do, and Cibrian looks like he hasn't aged a day since that photo was taken.

Did she enter rehab over feares he would cheat?

A lot of people are patiently waiting for Rimes and Cibrian to crash and burn as a way for "karma" to punish them for cheating on their ex-spouses. So you could probably imagine how giddy some people were when it was revealed Rimes allegedly checked into rehab due to fears that Cibrian would cheat on her.

Us Weekly spoke to a source who claimed Rimes admitted herself into the 30-day treatment facility in September 2012 to deal with "anxiety" and to learn better "coping mechanisms" just a year after marrying Cibrian. The catalyst for her visit was allegedly her "obsession with husband Eddie Cibrian's wandering eye," as well as the cyber-bullying she had experienced since their affair became public.

"LeAnn has had major insecurity issues since she first got together with Eddie," the source explained. "She's been stressed about always being called a homewrecker and also worried that Eddie is cheating on her. She's been on a downward spiral."

In the end, Rimes only lasted a week in the facility, according to People. But she was reportedly "better" and stronger upon her release.

In October 2012, the singer spoke to Us Weekly, and although she didn't confirm that the threat of Cibrian cheating on her was the root of her problems, she did say, "Everyone has an opinion of how I am and how I should be, and now I'm focusing on how I want to be."

Thumbs up to Rimes for putting her mental health first!

He joked about her alleged eating disorder

After their nuptials, Rimes started sporting a much slimmer figure, leading many to believe she was suffering from an eating disorder. After her brief stint in a treatment facility, Rimes addressed the rumors head-on in an interview with the Daily Mail.

The singer stated, "People said I was [anorexic], but I didn't have a problem with eating as I ate a ton all the time...but I was going through a time when I just wasn't sleeping — my mind wouldn't shut off and my heart was breaking."

Years later, while promoting their VH1 reality show LeAnn and Eddie, Cibrian poked fun at the rumors during a press junket. While speaking with Jennifer Hutt's Sirius XM show (via The Hollywood Gossip), Hutt named a few tabloid rumors and Cibrian and Rimes stated whether the rumors were fact or fiction. When Hutt brought up Rimes' alleged eating disorder, Cibrian reportedly answered, "Fact!" before laughing and adding, "Just kidding!"

Not cool. Not cool at all.

Their reality show flopped

In July 2014, Rimes and Cibrian headed to reality TV in their very own VH1 series called LeAnn & Eddie. The show followed the couple as they gave their fans a peek inside their relationship. They addressed everything, including their extramarital affair and Rimes' desire to have children, in an attempt to sway the public's opinion about them. Sadly the show was canceled after just one season, according to Us Weekly. Apparently, viewers just weren't interested in their scandalous love affair.

She knows the best way to end an argument

Almost a month before their April 2011 marriage, Rimes took to her Twitter to share some sage marital advice she received from one of her friends. In the tweet, Rimes stated, "A good friend just told me that the key to a successful marriage was to argue naked! I'm gonna do that from now on, when that rarely happens."

The advice seems to have worked because Rimes and Cibrian are still blissfully in love. When speaking about her marriage to People magazine in February 2017, Rimes said, "It just works." They keep their marriage afloat by respecting each other and Rimes stated, [Cibrian] is kind to me, and I reciprocate."

She wrote an album about their affair

As an artist, sometimes the best way for Rimes to spill her heart is through her music. She decided to get really personal and share her deep thoughts about her steamy affair in the release of her 2013 album Spitfire.

On the track "Borrowed," Rimes sings about the early stages of her affair with lyrics such as, "I know you're not mine, only borrowed/Cause you already belong to her, at least you said so/But I'm starting to believe it ain't the whole truth/As we're lying side by side I get the whole you."

Rimes called Spitfire her "intensive therapy" in an interview with Us Weekly. She even stated that the lyrics brought about some emotions she didn't even know existed. The singer said, "I think I opened up the can of worms for myself by writing this record. There were a lot of things I didn't even realize I was feeling...I needed to go somewhere and really process all of that stuff."
