The One Actor Diane Keaton Says She Would Marry
Diane Keaton is one celebrity whose personal life has been a subject of public intrigue for many years. The actor — known for her roles in films like "Annie Hall" and "The Godfather" — has never been married despite having dated some of Hollywood's biggest names, like Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, and Woody Allen. As she explained to CBS' Katie Couric in 2010, it was a conscious decision on her end not to get married, as she was afraid she'd have to "compromise too much" like her mother did in her own marriage.
"I think I took my cue from my mother there. I didn't want to have that," she said. "I wanted to try more adventurous things for myself... And I was also afraid of men. I was always being turned down or overlooked." She also admitted that she simply didn't think of herself as "marriage material."
Although she admittedly regrets not ever getting married in her younger days, Keaton said that she isn't sad about her single status, as she doesn't think that it would have been a good idea for her to have settled down early on. "I'm really glad I didn't," she told People in 2019. Even so, Keaton said she would still like to get married, but only to this one Hollywood actor...
Diane Keaton would marry Channing Tatum
Diane Keaton would say yes to marrying Channing Tatum in a heartbeat! The "Annie Hall" star admitted her huge crush on Tatum during an interview on "The Ellen Show" in 2015, where she openly discussed her feelings on the idea of getting married in her 60s. "I've never been married. And so the fact that somebody could live for 40 years with someone and be devoted to that person is something that moves me and I'm profoundly affected by it," said Keaton. When host Ellen DeGeneres noted that it's not yet too late for her to settle down, Keaton said, "Me? Who's gonna... wait. Oh, Channing Tatum."
At the time, the "Magic Mike" actor was still married to his wife of almost 10 years, Jenna Dewan — a fact that DeGeneres quickly pointed out to Keaton, who responded with, "That's okay." When asked later on whether or not she still wants to get married, Keaton quipped, "To Channing Tatum, [yes]."
Per CNN, Tatum and Dewan announced their separation in April 2018 after nearly nine years of marriage. Following their divorce, Tatum went on to date singer Jessie J, while Dewan got engaged to actor Steve Kazee. Currently, Tatum is said to be in a romantic relationship with Zoë Kravitz, with whom he worked on the movie "Pussy Island," Zoë's directorial debut. The couple has been dating for more than a year and celebrated their anniversary with a steamy getaway to Italy, according to People.
Diane Keaton's other celebrity crush
While Diane Keaton has made abundantly clear her love for Channing Tatum, the "21 Jump Street" actor isn't her only celebrity crush. Previously, Keaton also admitted to having her eye on Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin, whom she met during Ellen DeGeneres' big birthday bash in February 2018. "He was with Dakota, right?" Keaton said on "The Ellen Show," referring to Martin's longtime girlfriend, Dakota Johnson. "They're a couple, got it? So, what I'm saying is, he's gorgeous. You know, that face got better with time."
At the time, Keaton admitted that she didn't realize who Martin was at first. "That's the other problem. I didn't know who he was," she said. "But I saw him, and I noticed that he was gorgeous. And then I had no idea until a couple of days later when someone said, did you know? How about that? How could I have not have known it was him?"
Incidentally, Martin — like Tatum — is also a divorcee. He famously divorced his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow in 2016 after 13 years of marriage and two children together. Whereas the "Yellow Singer" moved on with Johnson in 2017, Paltrow married her husband, Hollywood producer Brad Falchuk, in 2018, after three years of dating, per People. Anyhow, we'll make a bold guess here and say that Martin has officially replaced Tatum as Keaton's dream better half!
