Mandy Moore Has Something In Common With Princess Eugenie

On the surface, it may not appear that Mandy Moore and Princess Eugenie share many common bonds.

Moore is a Hollywood actor, whose two-decade career in acting includes starring roles in "A Walk to Remember," "Tangled," and the hugely-successful NBC drama, "This Is Us." Prior to dipping her toes in the acting world, Moore found success within her music career, which spawned six albums and numerous singles, including "Candy," "Crush," and "Only Hope." Fans of Moore, who'd like to hear her sing outside of her acting roles (such as "Tangled"), will be happy to know that she's focusing her energy on music now that "This Is Us" has ended, per Los Angeles Magazine

Princess Eugenie, on the other hand, is a member of the royal family. Although, unlike much of her family,  she is not a working royal and earns a living as an art director — a career path she's extremely passionate about. "I've loved art since I was very little," Princess Eugenie shared with Harper's Bazaar in 2018. "I knew I definitely wouldn't be a painter, but I knew this was the industry for me."

Despite Moore's and Princess Eugenie's diverging career (and lifestyle) paths, it turns out that they actually do have one super adorable thread that ties them together.

Mandy Moore and Princess Eugenie's children share a first name

Mandy Moore and Princess Eugenie's common thread is through their children. Both first time moms delivered baby boys in February 2021, but that's not the only connection they share. The actor and art director both named their baby boys August.

Princess Eugenie was the first to give birth on February 9, 2021. A week and a half later, the princess introduced her little bundle of joy via her Instagram. "We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank," Princess Eugenie captioned a photo of herself, her husband Jack Brooksbank, and little August. "⁣⁣Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express," she added. On August's first birthday, Princess Eugenie revealed on Instagram the adorable nickname she and her husband had gifted him. "Happy 1st Birthday to our little hero Augie," she wrote. "We love you!"

On February 20, Moore welcomed her first born with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith. Days later, Moore introduced her baby August to her Instagram account and shared the sentimental reason she'd chosen the name. "It was last August when @taylordawesgoldsmith and I found out we were having a boy (it's also Taylor's birth month) and we always loved the name... so it was settled very early on in our book," wrote Moore.

Mandy Moore also shares a special connection to Meghan Markle

Mandy Moore also shares a special connection with another member of the royal family: Meghan Markle. Years before Markle met and married Prince Harry and was thrust into a new plane of fame, Moore met her while working on the set of 2007's "License to Wed," which centers on a priest (Robin Williams) putting an engaged couple (Moore and John Krasinski) through a series of tests to see if they should get married.

At the time, Markle was still married to her first husband Trevor Engelson, who produced the film. "Her ex-husband was a producer on a movie that I worked on, so I met her back in 2006 and spent a lot of time with them, a lot of time with her, and she is a lovely, generous woman," Moore told Access in 2018. Moore went on to state that she spent time with Markle and Engelson in Jamaica "where some of the movie was shot" as well as The Hamptons. While Moore assures that these encounters were "a lifetime ago for both of us," she did reach out to Markle to congratulate her on her engagement to Prince Harry, and she learned something pretty cool in the process. "She was very kind and said that she really likes 'This Is Us,'" said Moore. "She watches the show, so that was pretty cool. She's just a normal, regular girl."
