The Truth About Lauren Conrad And Lo Bosworth's Friendship
We know there was a lot about "The Hills" that was, well, manipulated in some way. The cast of the MTV reality hit have been pretty honest about what was real and what was not so real since the show left the airwaves back in 2010 (although we know it's since returned as "The Hills: New Beginnings"), with stars like Kristin Cavallari getting very candid about some of the fakest moments.
One of those not so organic things that kept us hooked during the original run? That romance between Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner. Or should we say showmance. Both L.C. and Jenner have admitted that things weren't exactly as they seemed on the screen, confessing that they were always just close friends who producers made out to be a little more than they were. "Brody and I were always more friends than anything. It was one of those things where producers really wanted us to be together, and we both knew we didn't have that kind of chemistry. The magic of editing always created a little more than there was," she told Us Weekly back in 2016.
But what about the friendships on the show? Were they real or fake? We know Conrad and her co-star Lo Bosworth went way back as they also appeared on the show that started it all, "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County," and now we know more about how real their relationship really was.
Are Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth sill friends today?
Neither Lauren Conrad nor Lo Bosworth were willing to return to their roots for "The Hills: New Beginnings" when in debuted in 2019, which meant we didn't really get much of an update on where they stand today. But never fear, fans of Lo C! Because it seems like this friendship has stood the test of time. Bosworth revealed where she stands with Conrad in the comments section of a June TikTok video in which she discussed her business venture, Love Wellness. One fan commented on the clip, "Are you and Lauren still friends Lo????" to which she responded, "Yep! I've lived on the East Coast for more than 10 years so we don't chat super frequently but definitely still friends." Yay!
The former "The Hills" star also touched on her friendships with Conrad and her other co-stars while chatting with Life & Style exactly a year earlier, admitting that although some things were staged on the show, her friendships were very much real. "Everybody was really close back in the day. We spent so much time together that, of course, the friendships were genuine," she said, but noted that staying in touch is a little more difficult today due to her life being in New York, miles away from the golden coast. "When you live across the country, it's definitely more of a challenge," she admitted.
Lo Bosworth is 'proud' of Lauren Conrad
It seems like Lo Bosworth is always down to support Lauren Conrad, even gushing about everything she's achieved since leaving "The Hills." In 2015, Bosworth opened up about their reality TV experience to Cosmopolitan, sweetly telling the outlet of Conrad, "I'm so proud of all the success that she's had. She's doing what she really loves to do and I feel the same way about what I'm doing. So I think it's pretty remarkable that we've both been able to walk away from what was a really interesting experience — a damaging experience for a lot of people — and come out of it with our heads held really high."
As for why Bosworth wasn't willing to head back to "The Hills" for "New Beginnings?" Well, she's made her thoughts on that pretty clear. The reality star went viral in 2021 for sharing her thoughts on the reboot, as Bosworth slammed her former co-stars who returned to MTV. "It's interesting to me to see the people that have chosen to continue to participate in 'The Hills.' I'm like, 'Wow, you guys are really leaning into your TV persona for whatever reason, right? For a paycheck, for attention, fame — whatever it is that you need that fulfills you,'" she said on "Unzipped," adding she was never a fan of the way some things were edited to make them different than they were.
