Demi Lovato Responds To Rumors That New Love Song Is About Nick Jonas
Did sparks ever fly between these two former Disney Channel stars?
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, Demi Lovato promoted her new album, Tell Me You Love Me, and addressed rumors that her song "Ruin the Friendship" was about pal Nick Jonas.
"I'm told to ask these questions. I don't care, I don't," host Ellen DeGeneres told Lovato. "But supposedly there is a song about Nick Jonas and because you just claimed to be so honest I think you should be honest with that answer."
Unfortunately for curious fans, Lovato remained tight-lipped on the subject. The 25-year-old, who'd once dated Jonas' older brother Nick, exclaimed, "Well, you don't care!"
She added, "Something that I will always keep to myself is who I write my songs about."
To which, DeGeneres said, "I see, so it's probably about him."
For those not in the know, Lovato's lyrics to "Ruin the Friendship" include, "Put down your cigar and pick me up / Play me your guitar, that song I love / Thirsty for your love / Fill up my cup."
She goes on to sing, "Your body's looking good tonight / I'm thinkin' we should cross the line / Let's ruin the friendship ... What's taken us all this time?"
Given that Jonas enjoys both smoking cigars and playing the guitar, fans were quick to assume that Lovato was talking about her former Camp Rock co-star Nick Jonas, Entertainment Weekly noted. But unfortunately, it doesn't seem like either party will be confirming the rumors anytime soon.
