Stars Who Never Seem To Learn Their Lesson

With fame comes a little drama — some subtle, others utterly chaotic. While some celebrities have managed to waltz their way through Hollywood without causing too much of a scene, others just couldn't resist the drama. Taylor Swift is a great example, who over the years has racked up a long list of short-lived relationships with some of Hollywood's biggest stars. "I think that you can love people without it being the great love," she famously once said of her controversial love life (via E!). However, with her six-year-long relationship with Joe Alwyn, Swift was seemingly able to break the streak of doomed love stories.

A far cry from matters of the heart, actor Lindsay Lohan also once had her fair share of drama. Twice in 2007, she was arrested for a DUI as well as cocaine possession. According to E! the pop singer was subsequently sentenced to one day in prison, 10 days of community service, and three years probation. Between 2007 and 2012, Lohan was arrested multiple times, with her jail time ranging from 84 minutes to 120 days. Eventually, Lohan was able to turn her life around. After her sixth stint in rehab, the "Rumors" singer decided she was leaving her troubled life behind, as revealed during an interview with Oprah Winfrey (via CTV News). "I feel whole again, and I have such a desire to want to keep this feeling and stay this way, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes."

But while Swift and Lohan might have been able to clean up their acts, some others never seem to learn their lessons.

Scott Disick

Few people on reality TV can party like Scott Disick. During his appearance on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," fans of the show saw Disick battle a drinking and party problem which put a strain on his then relationship with Kourtney Kardashian. "[Kourtney] doesn't really always 100 percent understand that it's a real disease that I have, and it's not just something that I can turn off and on," Disick explained during an episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

Disick's drinking problem came to a head in 2014 when, according to TMZ, he was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning after a birthday celebration in the Hamptons. Subsequently, the reality star began seeking treatment, a decision spurred by his wish to live healthier. "I've pretty much become a broken record. And I'm sick of hearing myself talk about the problems I have that I don't fix. And I've always known for a long time I did need to get some help to get to a better place," he said during an episode of " Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons."

Though his party days are far behind him now, Disick has, in recent years, continued to struggle with substance. In August 2017, it was reported that Scott had been hospitalized after posing a danger to himself for binge drinking. These days, however, Disick is finally on a path to recovery as sources confirmed to Us Weekly in December 2022 that the reality star is considering seeking treatment at an in-patient program.

Suge Knight

Few celebrities have a rap sheet as lengthy and shocking as Marion "Suge" Knight's. According to a comprehensive legal timeline published by Vulture, Knight racked up eight arrests between 1987 and 1997. The trouble began in '87 when he allegedly roughed up his then-girlfriend and cut off her ponytail. He was arrested with Dr. Dre and DOC for brawling at a New Orleans movie premiere, which they were not invited to, in 1992 (Some 80 police officers responded to that scene.) In 1997, after pleading guilty to another assault, a Los Angeles prosecutor asked the court, "How many bites of the probation apple does this defendant get?" The court's response: nine years in prison.

Speaking with the New York Post in 2000, the Death Row Records co-founder expressed some remorse. "I wouldn't say that I'm looking to become a role model when I leave prison, but the violent parts of my life have come to an end."

Fast forward to 2015, Knight was charged with murder for a hit-and-run that left 55-year-old Terry Carter dead and another injured, as reported by CNN. Though his attorneys initially argued that Knight was acting in self-defense, the Death Row Records co-founder later agreed to a plea deal and was eventually sentenced to 28 years in prison. With 22 years to go in his manslaughter conviction, as of this writing, Knight will serve an additional six years, having surpassed his third strike, according to The New York Times.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez may be a hopeless romantic. After all, she's been married four times (and one of her songs is titled "Marry Me"), but perhaps her second-go-round with Ben Affleck will end her quest for lasting love.

Let's review her rocky road: J. Lo's first marriage to Cuban actor Ojani Noa in 1997 lasted just one year. Her 2001 union with backup dancer Cris Judd was even shorter. After Judd came the hyped romance with Ben Affleck – that was Bennifer 1.0. Jen and Ben postponed their wedding, then called the whole thing off in January 2004. Lopez bounced back quickly, marrying fellow Latin sensation Marc Anthony later that year. They welcomed twins in 2008 and then divorced in 2011. "I hung in there for seven years," the star told W magazine. "I knew very quickly that it wasn't the right thing." Next was Alex Rodriguez, with their relationship beginning in 2017. A proposal followed in 2019, but before wedding bells could ring, their planned 2020 nuptials were postponed and eventually canceled altogether when the twosome split in 2021.

Not one to stay single for long, J. Lo reconnected with Affleck in April 2021, and Bennifer 2.0 was born. One year later, the two were engaged and soon married after that. Maybe this will be the last time she has to sing "Marry Me."

Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen's fame and fortune have been undermined by tragedy and turmoil, including a long list of sexcapades, domestic abuse issues, and drug abuse. According to an analysis in TV Guide, the mayhem began in 1990 when he accidentally shot then-fiancée Kelly Preston in the arm. Later that year, Sheen checked himself into rehab. In 1995, he confessed in a tax evasion case that he spent $53,000 on sex workers, and the next year he was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend. In 1998, Sheen overdosed on cocaine and returned to rehab. Before their divorce was finalized in 2006, second-wife Denise Richards alleged he was abusing drugs and abusing her.

After several ups and downs with third wife Brooke Mueller, Sheen publicly disclosed that he is HIV positive in 2015. "It's a hard three letters to absorb. It's a turning point in one's life," he told Today. "I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about me."

Sheen has gone on to advocate for HIV/AIDs awareness, and according to leading HIV/AIDs advocates, he could make a big difference. "No one would recommend this guy as an ambassador for feminist, egalitarian relationships," said JD Davids, managing editor of The Body, to CNN. "That being said, he can absolutely take a vital leadership role in providing accurate and lifesaving information on HIV, and in advocating for the policies that can end the epidemic in our lifetimes."

T.I.

T.I. (aka Clifford Harris) has not only rapped about violence and crimes in his music, but he's also lived it. In 2007, he was arrested on federal gun charges. According to CNN, T.I  was caught attempting to buy $12,000 worth of weapons — including three machine guns and two silencers—through his bodyguard during a federal sting operation in Atlanta. T.I. reportedly used a middle man because he's a convicted felon, which means he's not allowed to own guns. He was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and ordered to pay a $100,300 fine.

Shortly after his release in 2010, T.I. and his wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, were arrested for alleged drug possession during a traffic stop in Los Angeles and sentenced to 11 months in prison for violating his probation. "I screwed up," he told the court (via ABC News). Soon after his release, T.I. was reportedly taken into custody again after a bizarre blunder. According to the Daily Mail, he was transported from prison to a halfway house in a luxury tour bus but allegedly failed to accurately disclose his tricked-out mode of transportation to authorities.

In 2021, T.I's legal woes reached their peak after dozens of people came out, publicly accusing him and his wife of sexual abuse dating as far back as 2005. Though the rapper denied all allegations, per The Guardian, the scandal cost him and his family their VH1 reality show "T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle," which premiered in 2018.

Rob and Chyna

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna's rocky union is a prime example of loving gone wrong. The estranged couple hooked up in January 2016 under tense circumstances— as in Chyna had a baby with a rapper named Tyga who broke up with her to date Kardashian's younger sister, Kylie Jenner. By March of that year, Kardashian was dodging rumors that his family life was in ruins because of Chyna. The next month, Rob proposed to Chyna with a massive 7-carat, $325,000 ring, and the next month, the couple announced they were expecting a child.

The duo inked a lucrative deal for its own reality show, "Rob and Chyna," but the pair's off-screen drama overshadowed the on-screen footage. A ferocious on-again-off-again roller coaster ensued on social media, with high points during the birth of baby Dream, and low points soon after. By July 2017, the relationship seemed to hit rock bottom when Kardashian posted naked photos of Chyna all over the internet—actions that could be classified as illegal "revenge porn." In response, Chyna filed a lawsuit against her ex and his family, accusing them of ruining her reputation. According to People, the model also alleged in the filing that she suffered abuse at the hands of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.

After years of back-and-forth allegations, the former couple made headway in June 2022 after agreeing to settle out of court. Since then the two seem to be getting along just fine, with Chyna confirming to Daily Mail in March 2023 that they do a great job co-parenting their daughter.

Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks is not afraid to back up her bark with a mighty bite. One of the rapper's most famous public feuds involved hip hop star Iggy Azalea in February 2012. According to Complex, her beef with the Australian lyricist began when Azalea landed the cover of XXL's annual freshman issue as the only rookie female rapper. That sent Banks into a tizzy. "How can you endorse a white woman who called herself a 'runaway slave master?'" she ranted on Twitter. "Iggy Azalea on the XXL freshman list is all wrong...I'm not anti white girl...but I'm also not here for any1 outside my culture trying to trivialize very serious aspects of it."

The racial commentary continued in November 2013 when Banks slammed Pharrell Williams, accusing him of failing to promote their collaboration because she's dark-skinned. "The reason 'ATM Jam' did poorly is because Pharrell changed his mind about wanting to be associated with me after he had his lite skin comeback," she tweeted.

Banks has also verbally brawled with Lady Gaga, T.I., Nicki Minaj, and Russell Crowe. Yes, as in Russell Crowe of Gladiator. According to E! News, Banks claimed the Oscar-winner choked her and spat on her in October 2016 — a claim which the police has since found to be false. Between shading Rihanna for her "bald ass fuc**** edges," calling Erykah Badu "old" and fabricating lies about Lil Kim refusing to collaborate with her, Banks is not slowing down on the feuds.

Lamar Odom

Former NBA star Lamar Odom's troubles with alcohol and drugs have played out in the media for years, but his defining disaster occurred when he was discovered unconscious at a Nevada brothel in the fall of 2015. A source told E! News," Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system." Odom later revealed he suffered 12 strokes and two heart attacks during the incident. After a lengthy hospitalization, Odom appeared to be making positive strides, appearing at appeared at Kanye West's fashion show in February 2016 and at an Easter church service with then-wife Khloe Kardashian the following month.

But by July of that year, he appeared to be struggling again. After allegedly partaking in a few too many adult beverages in an airport lounge, Odom was removed from a flight for being drunk and vomiting on himself, reported TMZ. In December 2016, Odom had taken yet another step to regain control of his life, checking into rehab and remaining there until after the new year. In March 2017, Odom told Us Weekly he was turning his life around: "Living sober, meaning no drugs, is a great feeling. "

While Odom has since continued to walk his sobriety journey, the NBA star faced some challenges in his next relationship with fitness trainer Sabrina Parr. The pair who were together for about a year called off their engagement in November 2020. Odom has since labeled them as unhealthy, noting that there were fragments of abuse. "We were toxic. Independently and collectively," he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post in 2021 (via E! News).

Shia LaBeouf

Stories of Shia LaBeouf and booze play like a broken record. The troubled actor was arrested on July 8, 2017 in Savannah, Georgia, and charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction, and public drunkenness, reported People. The "Transformers" star reportedly went off the rails after he was refused a cigarette by a random stranger. "When LaBeouf wasn't given a cigarette, he became disorderly, using profanities and vulgar language," the police said in a statement at the time. The actor was also said to have initially resisted arrest before being taken into custody. A few months before that, TMZ reported that LaBeouf had gotten into a verbal altercation at a bar where he hurled racist comments at a bartender. The worst was however still to come.

In December 2020, FKA Twigs, who was in a year-long relationship with LaBeouf, filed a lawsuit against the actor, accusing him of sexual and physical abuse. Responding to the allegations, LaBeouf denied most of the allegations but added that he was willing to take responsibility for some of his past mistakes. The lawsuit has since gone to trial, slated to begin in November 2023, as of this writing, per Insider.

LaBeouf's antics have however not only landed him in trouble with the law but apparently also cost him roles. In August 2022, director Olivia Wilde told Variety she fired the actor from "Don't Worry Darling," for his poor work ethic on set. "His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions," she told the outlet.

Pete Davidson

He has 99 problems but getting a woman isn't one! Since getting his big break on "Saturday Night Live," Davidson has racked up a long list of celebrity girlfriends. More often than not, however, these relationships were short-lived. Davidson's love life first caught the public's attention in May 2018 when he was first linked to singer Ariana Grande. That same month, Grande and Davidson went Instagram official, getting engaged only a few weeks later. Sadly the pair's romance ended just as quickly as it started. "It was way too much too soon," a source told People of their split. "It's not shocking to anyone." But not even a public failed relationship was enough to deter Davidson from getting with more famous people.

Since his split from Grande, Davidson has dated a slew of Hollywood beauties ranging from Kate Beckinsale to Emily Ratajkowski, and most shockingly, Kim Kardashian, whom he was with for about nine months until their breakup in August 2022. "Kim and Pete have decided to just be friends," a source told Page Six at the time.  But while we might be a tad obsessed with his love life, Davidson says there is not much to be interested in. "In 12 years I've dated 10 people. I don't think that's that crazy, but to some people, it seems very interesting," he said on John Bernthal's "Real Ones" podcast. Going by this comment, it is not far fetched to assume that Davidson is only just getting started.

Drake Bell

Former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell has had one too many run-ins with the law over the years. In late 2009, Bell was arrested in San Diego for a DUI and subsequently convicted per the Glendale News-Press. This, apparently, was only the beginning of his legal troubles. In December 2015, Bell was yet again arrested in California for reckless driving while under the influence. As reported by the Daily Mail, Bell was jailed for about 10 hours before finally getting released on a $20,000 bond. At his hearing in September 2016, The "Drake & Josh" alum received a 96-hour prison sentence and four-year probation after pleading guilty.  However, due to good behavior, Bell ended up serving only one day in jail. Still, this was not the last of the actor's woes.

In June 2021, the "Drake & Josh" star was arrested on two charges; attempted endangering children and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. According to AP, Bell's arrest was prompted by his relationship with a girl (a minor) whom he met online and allegedly had sexual contact with. At his arraignment, the Nickelodeon star pleaded guilty to both charges. He was subsequently sentenced to a two-year probation as well as 200 hours of community service. "Today I accept this plea because my conduct was wrong," Bell said at his sentencing hearing, per E!. "I'm sorry that the victim was harmed in any way — that was obviously not my intention."

Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson

Nobody does drama like the Kardashians. Even better, no one does relationship drama quite like Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson. The former couple who first started dating back in 2016 have since continued to make headlines with their scandalous on-and-off relationship through the years. A few days before their daughter True was born in 2018, news broke that Thompson had been unfaithful to the reality star. "Tristan has been consistently cheating on Khloe. He's a serial cheater," a source told People. A public scandal was however not enough to break Kardashian's commitment to Thompson. But it was only a matter of time before Thompson was back in the news.

In February 2019, the NBA player was caught up in another scandal after news broke that he kissed Kylie Jenner's then-best friend, Jordyn Woods. Though Kardashian and Thompson broke up, the couple was back together after a year. "Tristan is working hard to prove himself and has been a great dad to [the couple's 2-year-old daughter] True," a source told Page Six. The reconciliation was however short-lived as Kardashian and Thompson broke up for good in June 2021, per Us Weekly. While they never got back together, the Thompson/Kardashian drama came to a head in December 2021 when personal trainer Maralee Nichols confirmed she was expecting the athlete's child. Going by the timeline of Nichols' pregnancy, Thompson was still with the reality star when he was involved with the personal trainer.

Donald Trump

Billionaire, real-estate mogul, media personality, and former president; Donald Trump wears many hats. But perhaps, his most popular title should be "controversial." Between multiple sexual assault allegations, misleading statements, and many eye-brow-raising political beliefs, Trump stays trending in the news. In March 2023, the former president was indicted by a Manhattan jury on 34 felony counts over his role in the Stormy Daniels hush money scandal. As reported by multiple outlets, Trump met Daniels in 2006 and then proceeded to have a months-long affair with her. In a bid to buy her silence, in 2016, Trump, through his lawyer Michael Cohen, made a $130,000 payment to Daniels, per NPR. But while his affair with Daniels might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, she is only one of many.

In 2018, former Playboy model Karen McDougal revealed in an interview with CNN that she once had a sexual relationship with Trump, which began in 2006 — around the same time he was with Daniels. "I didn't know he was intimate with other ladies,"  McDougal admitted in the interview. "I thought I was the only one." As reported by People amid his legal drama, Trump also paid McDougal $150,000 in hush money. In addition to the affairs, Trump has also faced multiple sexual assault allegations from dozens of women through the years. In true Trump style, the Mar-a-Lago owner denied all allegations and has since described them as "false smears," according to a 2016 report by The New York Times.

Kanye West

In 2004, an up-and-coming West stormed out of the American Music Awards after losing the Best New Artist category. Backstage, he aired his grievances telling reporters he felt swindled out of the award. This marked the start of a controversial career for the rapper. In the years that have since passed, West has, for many reasons, earned a spot as one of Hollywood's most controversial figures.

His most popular Kanye moment? That would be the 2009 VMAs where he interrupted newcomer Taylor Swift's speech to basically tell her she was undeserving of the Best Female Video award she had just won. "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!" West said while walking off the stage. But while he has recorded many more award show theatrics, West has also proven himself to be terribly good at stirring up controversial socio-political drama.

During a 2005 live broadcast, West called then-president George Bush racist, while accusing him of responding to the Hurricane poorly. "George Bush doesn't care about Black people," West declared. The height of West's controversies however seemingly reached its peak in 2022 following a slew of anti-semitic comments. "I'm a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I'm going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE," he wrote in a since-deleted tweet (via The Guardian). Consequently, West was suspended from multiple social media platforms and stripped of his billionaire status after losing his Adidas deal.

Piers Morgan

If there is one thing Piers Morgan will always do, it is speak his mind. Unsurprisingly this has landed him on the bad side of a lot of people.

Topping the list of Morgan's very long list of foes however is the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle whom he claims was once his friend. Through the years, the television host has been in an embattled one-sided feud with Markle whom he has called a lot of names including "fake," per The Sun. The animosity however reached its peak in 2021 when he quit "Good Morning Britain" after a row with his co-host Alex Beresford who criticized him for constantly attacking Markle. "Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her," Beresford fired at him (via Independent).

Morgan's blunt talk is however not reserved for royalty alone as the British royalty has through the years feuded with different people across the entertainment industry. In 2018, Morgan's harsh criticism of British girl band Little Mix ended in Jesy Nelson calling him "a silly tw**" per Metro. The journalist was also once in a longtime feud with Jeremy Clarkson, resulting in a physical altercation at the 2004 Press Awards. If there is something Morgan does better than his job, it is stepping on toes.
