Aaron Hernandez's Fiancee, Shayanna, Opens Up About His Death
Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez has serious doubts the death of Aaron Hernandez.
In a two-part interview with Dr. Phil, which will air on May 15 and 16, Jenkins-Hernandez opens up for the first time since the death of her former NFL star fiancé with whom, according to E! News, she has a 4-year-old daughter, Avielle.
"He was very positive, so excited to come home. I spoke to him the night before and he was so, 'Daddy's going to be home,' and 'I can't wait to sleep in the bed with you guys, and I can't wait to just hold you and love you.' There was no indication at all of such events," she says.
Jenkins-Hernandez's doubts over Hernandez's alleged suicide stem from the fact that he had recently been acquitted on two murder charges and was in the process of appealing the murder conviction for which he was serving a life sentence.
"I felt like we were looking so bright. We were going up a ladder to a positive direction," she tells Dr. Phil. Of the last time they spoke, which was the night before Hernandez's alleged suicide, Jenkins-Hernandez says the conversation had "nothing to do with suicidal thoughts." She even admits they didn't say "I love you" to one another in that final chat.
In her tearful account of the moment that she learned off Hernandez's death, Jenkins-Hernandez reiterates her doubts about the way in which Hernandez died.
"I got a call at 5:27 a.m. in the morning from some official at Shirley Prison and they informed me that, indeed, Aaron was deceased. At first, I thought it was a hoax. I thought it was a cruel person playing a trick on me," she tells Dr. Phil.
Jenkins-Hernandez has already taken steps to launch her own investigation into what happened the night of Aaron Hernandez's death. In April 2017, her lawyers filed a motion "to preserve evidence linked to his death," as well as to inform a judge that they "have evidence that Hernandez was murdered," though they have yet to introduce it in court.
