Ben McKenzie Reveals He Initially Blew Off Fianceé Morena Baccarin
Don't ask Ben McKenzie about the first time he met fianceé and Gotham (2014-) co-star Morena Baccarin—he doesn't remember.
McKenzie visited The Late Late Show on May 10, 2017, where host James Corden asked the former The O.C. (2003-07) actor if he met Baccarin on the set of Gotham.
"I thought we did," McKenzie, who plays James Gorden on the hit Fox show, replied. "We had this lovely conversation, and she said on the sort of second or third day in, 'Um, actually, we've met before.'"
"I had forgotten," the 38-year-old explained. "We had met on the set of The O.C. apparently. ... I apparently blew her off."
McKenzie continued, "So I'm thinking, 'What kind of idiot would blow off this beautiful, gorgeous, sophisticated, intelligent, successful woman?' Then I thought of what kind of boy I was at 25, and [I was] that kind of idiot."
"Thank goodness she forgave you!" Corden told McKenzie. We'd say!
Luckily, everything worked out for McKenzie and Baccarin. The two officially confirmed that they were an item back in September 2015 when they announced that they were expecting a child together. On March 2, 2016, the couple welcomed a daughter, named Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan, into the world.
That November, McKenzie and Baccarin, who has a son from a previous marriage, announced their engagement.
