Benedict Cumberbatch Welcomes Second Child With Wife Sophie Hunter
Benedict Cumberbatch is a daddy...again!
According to the Daily Mail, the Sherlock (2010-) star and his wife Sophie Hunter gave birth to their second child, a son, on March 3, 2017. They named their baby boy Hal Auden Cumberbatch.
Hunter, 39, debuted her growing baby bump at the premiere of her husband's film Doctor Strange in Oct. 2016. She and Cumberbatch, who married in Feb. 2015, are already parents to 21-month-old son Christopher "Kit" Carlton Cumberbatch.
Previously, Cumberbatch, 40, joked on The Graham Norton Show (via People) about having a large family. "I've become a father and a husband, and in the right order," Cumberbatch told host Graham Norton. "I might go for a (Cumber) batch of boys!"
Well, Cumberbatch has certainly made progress toward that goal. And with Doctor Strange reportedly bringing in about $232 million domestically and $335 million from foreign markets, Cumberbatch won't have to worry much about providing for his growing brood. Considering that his Doctor Strange character will go on to appear in other Marvel films like Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), it's safe to say that the Cumberbatch family will always be well taken care of.
And if news of Cumberbatch and Hunter's new baby wasn't enough, People magazine reports that Hunter, who is a theater director, has also legally changed her name to Sophie Cumberbatch–so now, the growing family can all go by the same last name. And really, who wouldn't want that last name?
Congratulations to the family!
