Johnny Depp Lashes Out At Amber Heard On Video
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's divorce drama keeps getting scarier. Over the weekend, a video surfaced on TMZ (warning: contains NSFW language) of Depp and Heard at home, and it gets ugly. In the 97-second-long clip, which is reportedly from months before the couple's May 21, 2016 fight that spawned their impending divorce, 53-year-old Depp screams, "motherf***er" repeatedly while slamming cabinet doors. Heard, 30, records surreptitiously and prods, "What happened?" Her calm statements only seem to fire up Depp's rage. "I just woke up and you were still asleep. We were not even fighting this morning. All I did was say sorry."
It's unclear what Heard actually said sorry for, but later on Depp—drinking a large glass of wine—tells her, "You want to see crazy? I'll show you crazy. Here's f***ing crazy!"
When Depp notices he's being recorded, he grabs the phone with which Heard was recording him and says, "Oh, you got this going? Oh really!" More slamming sounds can be heard before the video cuts off.
Sources told TMZ that the footage was "heavily edited" and "a complete setup by Amber."
However, Heard's camp denied that she or her team released the footage. "I am not responsible for the release of the video. It was not what I wanted and I am doing what I can to force the media to take it off the internet," Heard said in a statement to People. "I underestimated the toll that this difficult few months have taken on me, emotionally and physically, and the efforts made by the media to intimidate and discredit me. It is for that reason, and my desire to make the healthiest choice for myself, and hopefully for Johnny, that I am attempting to resolve this matter in the most private way possible."
The video was leaked on the night of August 12, 2016—just hours before Heard was scheduled to give her deposition in her and Depp's divorce case—which she refused to do last week. TMZ reports that Heard was deposing for seven hours on Saturday, with many of the questions focusing on why and how police officers, security guards, and five concierges didn't see any injuries on Heard's face or damage to their shared home. Heard reportedly stuck to her story, alleging that Depp hurled a phone at her face and that she's suffered from domestic abuse since their relationship began in 2011. The site also noted that Heard and Depp are seeking a settlement as opposed to a long, ugly trial.
And oh, how ugly it may get: On August 15, 2016, TMZ unearthed exhibits from Heard's domestic violence case against Depp, and some of the photos are even worse than you'd imagine.
One of the photos is of Depp's bloody hand. One of his fingertips is missing after he allegedly cut it off, which Page Six reports was spawned by "a jealous rage." Depp suspected Heard of cheating on him with Billy Bob Thornton, writing on a mirror in paint (allegedly with the missing fingertip), "STARRING BILLY BOB EASY AMBER." Heard claims that Depp was drunk and high on ecstasy during the incident, which took place in March 2015 in Australia. Depp reportedly got surgery and sought treatment for substance abuse after the incident occurred.
Heard denies any involvement with Thornton (or any other type of affair). She also claims that Depp smashed several bottles and a phone during his tirade.
According to TMZ, the estranged couple are close to achieving a settlement with Depp paying Heard $8 million, though she wanted a lot more—but here's a big twist to the negotiations: Heard wants Depp to sign a declaration that he did, in fact, commit domestic violence against her. Depp and his team refuse these terms, because they insist he never committed any domestic violence against her.
