Katharine McPhee Confirms David Foster Relationship At 2018 Met Gala
Katharine McPhee and David Foster have finally confirmed their long-rumored romance.
On Monday, May 7, 2018, the Waitress star and legendary music producer made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2018 Met Gala.
While speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the event, McPhee revealed that she and Foster, who finalized his divorce with Yolanda Hadid last October, were having a "fun date night."
Donned in a sheer blue Georges Chakra Couture gown, complete with a holy cross necklace and gold jewelry to fit the evening's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" theme, the Smash alum admitted her look took "a lot of work, I'm not gonna lie." The "Over It" singer continued, "I'm just sort of the doll, but the hair and makeup and styling the last hour before you hit a carpet is kind of intense."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, McPhee, 34, and Foster, 68, have been romantically linked since May 2017, when the two were spotted grabbing a bite to eat together in Malibu. "It's a little more than casual, but they're not exclusive," an Us Weekly source said last October, claiming that the rumored couple were taking things slow. "Kat thinks they should be a little more serious, but it's mainly casual on his part."
Amid the speculation, the American Idol alum continued to deny that she and Foster were together. "We're very close friends, and we've been friends for a long time," McPhee told Health magazine in December 2017. "I'm really, really fond of him, and I think he's an incredible person...People can say whatever they want."
However, the romantic gossip didn't stay squashed for too long. Soon after, Foster's daughter, Sara, told Us Weekly that she and her siblings "totally approve" of McPhee. "I mean, listen, we approve of whoever is going to be good to my dad at the end of the day, and we're very honest about it," she said, adding, "We just want someone that's going to treat him well and that cares about him, and I think he's with someone right now that really does."
