Janet Jackson To Be Honored With Icon Award At 2018 Billboard Music Awards
Janet Jackson is set to receive a special award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
E! News reports that the "All for You" singer will be honored with the Icon Award at the big music event, an award designed to celebrate an artist's cultural impact. Past recipients of the award include Stevie Wonder, Prince, Céline Dion, Cher, and Jennifer Lopez.
The 51-year-old, who split from billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana in April 2017, is also slated to perform at the awards show. Her performance will mark her first televised one in nine years.
Other artists like BTS, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Shawn Mendes will also take the stage to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. The big night will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson. The show will air live from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, May 20, at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on NBC.
As Nicki Swift previously reported, nominations for the Billboard Music Awards were announced in mid-April. Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift lead the pack, as each artist is up for multiple awards, including Top Artist, Top Selling Album, and Top Billboard 200 Artist.
