John Cena, Nikki Bella Share Inspirational Messages On Canceled Wedding Day
John Cena and Nikki Bella are staying positive amid their recent split.
On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the WWE stars both took to social media to share inspirational messages on what would have been their wedding weekend.
"Chin up princess or the crown slips," Bella, whose real name is Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, shared in a text-post on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Cena tweeted, "If you choose to keep moving, no matter how low the road takes you, it will eventually begin to climb back up. #NeverGiveUp." On Sunday, the Blockers star took to Twitter again, writing, "Learn from your mistakes. A life of regret is a life unfulfilled."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Cena, 40, and Bella, 34, revealed that they were calling it quits on Sunday, April 15 — just three weeks ahead of their planned nuptials. "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another," they released in a joint statement to Us Weekly at the time. "We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."
The former couple, who got engaged at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017, had been together for six years before ending their relationship. The two had also documented their longtime romance on E!'s Total Divas and Total Bellas.
While neither have shared why they decided to part ways, an Entertainment Tonight source claimed that they broke up over one major issue: the decision to have kids. "Nikki has always dreamt of having a family of her own and John does not want children and that was the main cause of their break up," the insider said, calling the whole situation "heartbreaking." The source added, "They had to split in order to give each other the life they both wanted."
However, according to an Us Weekly insider, Bella was the one to initiate the split. While "John is a mess," the source alleged that his ex-fiancée is not exactly "devastated" as "she has to focus on herself" right now.
"It sucks," Cena recently told ET. "There's no other way to say [it]. I love Nicole with all my heart, and that's that."
