Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan Are Reportedly 'Relieved' After Announcing Their Split

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are moving forward.

According to an Entertainment Tonight exclusive, published on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, the former couple are reportedly "both relieved" after announcing their split earlier this week.

"[It has] been very difficult," a source told the news outlet, explaining that they "were very much in love," but had "struggled" to make their relationship work. "There was a lot of pressure in Hollywood to stay a happy couple. Some friends were stunned by the joint post regarding their split, while others saw this coming."

The insider added, "It has been very challenging for a while and many of their fans are devastated. But this decision is truly is for the best."

While the actors "both felt it was worth it" to fight for their marriage and avoid breaking up, the source said that they "are both relieved" now that their separation is public knowledge.

"Hiding the fact [that] their marriage has been over for some time was devastating to Jenna and also hard for Channing," the insider told ET. "At this point they both feel the future will be better. And while their marriage couldn't last, their daughter is their first priority."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Tatum and Dewan, who share 4-year-old daughter Everly, announced via social media that they were calling it quits after eight years of marriage on Monday, April 2, 2018. 

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," their joint statement read. "We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now."

They added, "There are no secrets or salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible."

"We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly," their statement concluded. "We won't be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family's privacy."

Tatum and Dewan, both 37, met on the set of Step Up in 2006, and tied the knot in 2009.
