Ed Sheeran Reportedly Asked To Perform At Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Wedding
Is the "Perfect" singer headed to the royal wedding?
According to an Entertainment Tonight exclusive, published on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, a source has revealed that Ed Sheeran has been asked to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding later this spring.
At the time of this writing, neither Sheeran nor his rep has publicly commented on the alleged request. However, this is not the first time speculation has circulated that the "Thinking Out Loud" hitmaker, who recently picked up two Grammy Awards, would be making an appearance at the event.
In December 2017, the British singer-songwriter commented on the potential gig while receiving his MBE, a prestigious royal honor, for his services to music and charity. After reporters asked if he'd be willing to perform at the ceremony if invited, Sheeran quipped with a grin, "Yeah, why not."
While speaking with ET later that month, the "Give Me Love" singer reiterated that he'd play at the event "if [he] was free."
"I get asked this all the time like I know the royal family. I've met Harry once!" Sheeran, who recently announced his own engagement, added. "[And] that was in 2011 at his grans' Jubilee, and it was like, 'Hey.' 'Hey.'...I barely know him!"
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Harry, 33, and Markle, 36, announced their engagement in late November 2017. Prior to the exciting announcement, Markle had ended her starring stint on the popular USA Network series Suits, which initially sparked engagement rumors. The cute pair have been together since the fall of 2016, and plan to marry at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle in May 2018.
