Julie Bowen Files For Divorce From Husband Of 13 Years
The Modern Family star is officially ending her marriage.
According to E! News, Julie Bowen filed for divorce from her real estate investor husband, Scott Phillips, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, after 13 years of marriage.
In court documents obtained by the website, Bowen listed their date of separation as Dec. 17, 2017, and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for calling it quits. In addition to asking for joint physical and legal custody of the former couple's three children, the actress is requesting a termination in the court's ability to grant spousal support to her ex.
As the publication noted, speculation about the state of their marriage circulated throughout 2017 after a report claimed that the two had been "living separate lives."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, it was revealed less than a week ago that Bowen, 47, and Phillips, 44, had separated. They married in September 2004, and share three young children: Oliver, 10, and twins John and Gustav, 8.
In September 2016, Bowen had joked about the possibility of a breakup during an interview with Us Weekly about other Hollywood marriages. "We watch all these people get married and split up and go, 'Wait, did they get married after us or before us?'" she said, adding, "We outlast all these people. The answer: We're too tired to do anything else!"
All joking aside, the actress couldn't help but gush over her family of five. "At first I loved my husband and then I loved the kids and now I love our family," she continued. "When I see my husband with my kids, it makes me so happy. When I see my kids all sitting down at the table together, I'm like 'This is awesome. We did this!'"
At the time of this writing, Bowen has yet to publicly comment on the split.
