Shakira Reportedly Under Investigation In Spain

The pop star is facing some shocking allegations.

The BBC reports that Shakira (full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) is being investigated for tax evasion in Spain. According to the article, the "Hips Don't Lie" singer could wind up owing "tens of millions of euros," if found guilty of not paying income tax between the years 2011 and 2014. PriceWaterhouseCoopers, an auditing firm hired by Shakira, reportedly confirmed the report to Spain's Efe news agency, as noted by the BBC.

However, sources told the British news network that Shakira, who is said to have officially moved from the Bahamas to Spain in 2015, has always met her tax obligations (via E! News).

The investigation was reportedly sent to the Barcelona prosecutor's office in December 2017. The decision to press charges against Shakira, who's been reportedly linked to an alleged "tax haven" in the past, will not be made until June 2018, as reported by Sky News.
